Childminding Matters started life in 1988 under the name of Norfolk County Childminding Association to offer local
support to registered childminders and parents in the county of Norfolk. Local groups raised funds for the organisation
in the first instance, but 3 years later Norfolk County Childminding Association became a registered charity and received
a grant from the Social Services Department. In August 2003 Norfolk County Childminding Association was dissolved and
all its activities were transferred to Childminding Matters - a company limited by guarantee and registered charity.
Childminding Matters receives funding from Norfolk County Council's Early Years, Childcare and Extended Schools Services
to provide childminding network development, training and support for childminders, applicants for childminding and
parents. Our services are available to all childminders in Norfolk, who are offered services automatically without charge
when they register.
The aims of Childminding Matters are to promote high quality care for children by:
- Encouraging the recognition of childminding as a positive form of day care provision for children.
- Advancing the education and training of registered childminders.
- Promoting good standards of childminding practice.
- Providing a framework for the provision of good quality information, advice and support to childminders.
Childminding Matters is managed by a Council of Management. The administration team is based at Childminding Matters'
registered office at Childminding Matters 7 Chalk Hill House, 19 Rosary Road, Norwich, NR1 1SZ and field staff are based in home
offices. In addition, there are freelance, self-employed Tutors and Assessors who deliver Childminding Matters training
courses and NVQ assessment for Children's Care, Learning and Development throughout the county.
